Arts Administration (January - April 2020)

Work experience placement

The Jette Parker Young Artists Programme supports the development of young singers, conductors, directors and repetiteurs. The Young Artists are full-time Royal Opera House employees, who work on productions as singers, music staff and assistant directors and receive coaching in all opera disciplines including musical style and interpretation, languages, movement, acting and stage technique, as well as guidance in related issues and career development.

The Young Artists Programme office co-ordinates all aspects of the programme - including class and rehearsal schedules, auditions and being a point of contact within the organisation for the artists.

This placement is based in the Young Artists office, offering an insight into the workings of a large music venue through assisting with the day-to-day running of this programme. Tasks may include filing, answering the telephone, taking messages, creating and updating documents (including opera and song texts), liaising with artists and staff, assisting with the distribution of the weekly schedule and supporting events.
