Department Description:

Royal Opera House Collections is responsible for collecting, preserving and making accessible the extraordinary collection of archives and objects that record the history of the Royal Opera House. The collection represents a journey into the diverse history of this institution since 1732, documenting all aspects of the artistic and organizational history of the three theatres that have stood on the site.

Description of Placement:

You will have the opportunity to be involved in helping with ongoing projects to preserve and catalogue the historic collections of the Royal Opera House. You may be asked to handle and repackage archival material and create data for the Collections catalogue or Performance Database.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

Aged 18+

Selection Criteria:

- An interest in history, performing arts and working in an archive environment.

- Interest in caring for and cataloguing archives and historic collections.

- Confident in use of computers (Microsoft packages, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint), training in the use of cataloguing databases will be provided.

- Willingness to learn new skills.

- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Able to use own initiative, work independently and as part of a team.

- Enthusiasm and commitment to learn about and participate in the department`s activities.
