Technical Production - Scenic Art

The Paintshop is located in the Bob and Tamar Manoukian Workshop in Purfleet, Essex alongside the Construction department for the Royal Opera House. The team is made up of up to eight full time scenic artists painting new, and refurbishing the majority of the sets for Royal Ballet, The Royal Opera and Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Description

You will be involved in assisting the team of scenic artists in workshops, scene painting sets for opera and ballet. Tasks may include colour mixing, texturing, tacking out cloths, prep work, touching up on and back-stage if required. Painting projects may also be set specifically for the placement to reflect the needs of the individual.

Hours:

8:00am - 4:15pm Monday to Friday.

Location

High House Production Park in Purfleet, Essex

Minimum entry requirements

- Aged 18+

- 2nd/3rd year of a relevant theatre craft/art related course, or with equivalent level of training/experience

Selection criteria

You must have a basic knowledge of materials and techniques and good drawing skills. You should be communicative, a good team player and be physically capable of undertaking the requirements of the placement.
